Ms. Tara Moti Mirchandani

Ms. Tara Moti Mirchandani, born on 6 July 1930 in Hyderabad, Sind [Pakistan], is a retired government official and one of the most prominent women writers in Sindhi literature. She has served on the Sahitya Akademi Advisory Board for five years and was also a member of the Maharashtra Sindhi Sahitya Academy for three years, earning wide respect in literary circles.

A distinguished fiction writer, her forte lies in novels and short stories, with four novels and four short story collections to her credit. Her writing, rooted in everyday life, sensitively explores human relationships, especially marital dynamics and emotional understanding. Her acclaimed novel Hath Ygoi won the prestigious Central Sahitya Akademi Award, along with several other honours from leading literary institutions.

Tara Mirchandani is one of the most prominent lady writers in Sindhi.  Her forte is fiction.  At least four novels & four collections of short stories are to her credit.  Her fiction is homespun.  Emphasis is on human relations, more particularly between the husband and wife  temperamental adjustment, personality conflict and such other matters are amicably resolved with understanding and accommodation with one another’s views and lifestyle.

Her novel HathYgoi has earned her a lot of praise and appreciation from literary circles and won her the prestigious National Award from the Central Sahitya Akademi Award and an award from the Akhil Bharat Sindhi Boli Ain Sahit Sabha. Also other literary associations, academies & trusts have honoured her.
