(Late) Sugan Ahuja

[Late] Sugan Ahuja [1921-1960], born in Sukkur, Sind [Pakistan], was a B.A. in English Literature and retired as a lecturer. He also had a brief but notable association with journalism as a sub-editor of the renowned Sindhi weekly Hindvasi in Mumbai. Known for his bold, powerful diction and lyrical depth, his poetry deeply inspired readers, especially the youth.

A multi-faceted literary figure, Sugan Ahuja was equally distinguished as a poet, short story writer, and literary critic. His critical study of Narayan Shyam’s Roop-Maya is regarded as a landmark in modern Sindhi literary criticism. His posthumously published novel Kanwal Jaagi Uthya [1968] is considered one of his most significant contributions to Sindhi literature.
