Ramesh Uttamchand Mehta
Ramesh Uttamchand Mehta, popularly known as Ramal, was born on 18 May 1929 in Karachi, Sind [Pakistan]. Educated in Inter Commerce, he later settled in Mumbai, where he pursued business as his profession while simultaneously nurturing a deep passion for the performing arts.
A versatile actor, writer, producer, and director of Sindhi plays, he was also a gifted singer and lyricist. His outstanding performance in Pakheeara Pinjre Ja [Caged Birds] earned him wide acclaim. A respected stage personality, Ramesh Mehta played a significant role in reviving Sindhi drama after Partition, excelling in character roles and advocating a style of natural and restrained acting.
