Mohan Gehani

Mohan Gehani was born on 20 January 1938 in Karachi, Sind [Pakistan], and later pursued an M.A. He has been actively associated with the Sindhi literary movement since 1954, holding key roles in several literary and cultural organizations. Professionally, he served as an Administrative Officer at the Indian High School in Dubai, where he also played an important role in organizing Sindhi cultural and literary functions.

An intellectual of high calibre, Mohan Gehani began his literary journey with critical essays on social, cultural, and aesthetic themes, and later developed a deep interest in the history of Sindh. A committed advocate of Sindhyat, he has worked tirelessly for the preservation of Sindhi language, literature, and culture from his student days through his long association with the Sindhi community in Dubai. In recent years, he has authored several books of notable literary merit, written in poetic prose.

Later on, he developed interest in the history of Sindh, and his homeland and produced fairly a good book on the subject, the only one written by Sindhi author after partition.

Mohan Gehani remained a devotee to his community's struggle for preservation of Sindhi language, literature and culture and has been actively working for the movement of Sindhyat from his school days and later in Dubai for over a decade and half, and made a mark in the Sindhi society.

In recent years he has shown his literary flavour and talent. He has penned a few books of considerable interest and literary merit in poetic prose.
