Madan Ramchand Jumani
Madan Ramchand Jumani was born on 21 December 1934 in Karachi, Sind [Pakistan], and later settled in Mumbai. A renowned stage and television artiste, he devoted over five decades to the world of dramatics, during which he wrote, produced, and directed more than 120 plays for All India Radio, stage, and television, earning wide acclaim in India and abroad, including Pakistan.
Associated initially with IPTA and later with Gobind Malhi’s Kalakar Mandal, he emerged as a versatile actor, director, and playwright. His notable works include Hik Baa Tre, Othelo [Sindhi adaptation of Shakespeare’s Othello], Kafan, Palau Pali, and He-a-Baah Kadhin Visamandee. In addition to theatre, he successfully directed Sindhi films and TV serials, winning several awards for his outstanding contributions.
