Laxman Bhatia
Laxman Bhatia was born on 26 March 1936 in Kandiaro, District Nawab Shah, Sind [Pakistan]. A B.Com graduate with a Diploma in Journalism, he settled in New Delhi and served with distinction at The Times of India, retiring as Chief Sub-Editor. For over four decades, he has written regularly for literary magazines, newspapers, television, and radio, and has participated in more than fifty national and international seminars and literary conferences.
A prominent post-Partition Sindhi poet, Laxman Bhatia has also made notable contributions to drama and opera. He authored and staged several plays and wrote three full-length Sindhi operas-Sorath, Moomal Rano, and Suhni Mehar-based on classic folk tales, all of which were successfully produced and widely acclaimed on the Sindhi stage.
