Jhamatmal T. Wadhwani

Jhamatmal T. Wadhwani was born on 10 March 1921 in Sukkur, Sind [now in Pakistan]. He holds degrees in Arts with Honours, Law, and Chartered Accountancy, and pursued a professional career in electrical engineering business. Despite his exceptional contributions to the Sindhi community - especially in education - he has always shunned publicity, honours, and awards. He is the Founder President of the Bhartiya Sindhu Sabha, serving Sindhi interests through a nationwide network of over 250 branches, and has also been active in politics within the Bharatiya Janata Party, including enduring imprisonment for 19 months during the Emergency period [1975-1977].

Deeply committed to the preservation of the Sindhi language and the values of Sindhyat, Jhamatmal Wadhwani has rendered immense service in the field of education. As President of the Vivekananda Education Society, Chembur, he helped establish multiple faculties with a combined student strength of around 15,000. A self-made and selfless worker, he is known as a strict disciplinarian, a devotee of Swami Vivekananda, and a firm believer in the ideal of “Simple Living, High Thinking,” earning him deep respect and pride within the Sindhi community.

As Educationist

Jhamatmal wadhwani is one of the pioneers in educational field. He is the President of Vivekananda Education Society, which made humble beginning in 1962 with a school having 250 students. Today under this Society, there are 21 educational Institutions, from Creche to Postgraduate & an Engg. College. Also the Society runs Institutions, that conduct courses on Information Technology, M.B.A. & B.Ed. The total population of student community is around 15000. In addition to these educational institutions, the Society also runs School for Deaf & Dumb. It is a colossal effort.
