Heero Tikamdas Shewkani
Heero Tikamdas Shewkani, born on 6 January 1935 in Chuharjamali, District Thatta, Sind [Pakistan], is a distinguished academic and literary figure. He holds a B.A. [Hons.] and an M.A. in Hindi, and resides at 25, Maleer, Ward 4/A, Adipur [Kutch]. He devoted nearly four decades to the teaching profession and retired as Principal of R.K. Talreja College, Ulhasnagar.
Apart from being a noted short story writer, Heero is a prominent Sindhi literary critic with one short story collection and three critical works to his credit. His landmark contribution is Sindhi Adab Ji Tarikh, a Sindhi translation of History of Sindhi Literature by Principal L.H. Ajwani, commissioned by the Central Sahitya Akademi. For his outstanding work, he received the Sahitya Akademi Translation Prize and an award from the Gujarat Sindhi Sahitya Academy for his overall contribution to Sindhi literature.
