Gobind Punjabi
Gobind Punjabi, born on 10 December 1918 in Shikarpur, Sind (Pakistan), was an eminent Sindhi short story writer who, despite having no formal education, made a significant mark in literature. A retired businessman, he resided in Bandra, Mumbai, and became widely known for his progressive outlook and sensitive portrayal of the struggles, sufferings, and aspirations of the poor and downtrodden.
To promote progressive thought in literature, Gobind Punjabi established the publishing house “Nai Duniya Kitab Ghar”, which played a historic role in advancing progressive ideas in Sindhi literature. His literary output was substantial, with over 150 short stories to his credit, published across numerous magazines, firmly establishing him as an influential voice in progressive Sindhi writing.
