Chandru Hashmatrai Chainani was born on 17 September 1938 in Karachi, Sind [Pakistan]. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and is a permanent resident of Radha Co-operative Housing Society, 186 Cadel Road, Mahim, Mumbai - 400 016.

A distinguished artiste, Chandru Atma has released several cassettes, CDs, and LPs featuring Sindhi Geets, Kalams, Bhajans, and Ghazals. Among his most notable works are Navan Sindhi Raag [New Sindhi Songs, 1985], Sachal Ja Kalam [Songs of Sufi Sachal, 1980], Jai Jhulelal [1990], and Pyar [Love, 1998], all of which have made a significant contribution to Sindhi music and culture.

  1. Chandru has given numerous programmes before the large & appreciative  audience all over the world.  Also he has given number of programmes on A.I.R. & Doordarshan.  He is a  recognised play back singer for Hindi, Sindhi & Rajasthani films. 
  2. Recently he has been bestowed with the honour of being appointed as Honarary Professor of Arts & Music by prestigious Jai Hind College, Mumbai. Music is what Chandru breaths and lives for.  He worships music with great devotion.
