Assan Vaswani

Assan Vaswani (pen name Majboor), born on27 February 1932in Banguldero, District Larkana, Sind (Pakistan), is a distinguished educationist and poet. He holds M.A. degrees in English Literature and Hindi Literature and retired asPrincipal of Tolani College of Arts, Adipur (Kutch). He is a resident of Adipur, Kutch, where he has continued his literary pursuits after retirement.

 

Unassuming by nature, Assan Vaswani has been writing poetry for many years and has gained wider recognition in recent times. He has authored several poetry collections, among which Zindagee-a-Ja Naghma and Ishwar Jo Apghat are considered his most significant works, earning him prominence in the literary world.

Additional Information

  1. Assan is an approved AIR Artiste. He gives talk on variety of social subjects on AIR.
  2. Some of his poems were translated in English and published in Indian literature and Samkaleen a publication by Central Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi.
  3. He writes on current events and their impact on Society. Through his poems, he exposes prevalent bigotry, poverty, and religious fundamentalism etc.

Basically he is an educationist.  He has retired as a Principal from Tolani College of Arts, Adipur-Kutch.  He is unassuming and has been writing poetry for quite some time, but has recently shot into prominence.  He has quite a few books of poetry to his credit.  Most significant amongst them are Zindagee-a-Ja Naghma and Ishwar Jo Apghat
