Born on 21 April 1941 in Karachi, Shri Vishnu Bhatia is a distinguished Sindhi writer with around 15 books, including short stories and novels, to his credit, and has also served as a journalist and regular columnist for leading Sindhi publications. In recognition of his lasting contribution to Sindhi literature, he is honoured with the Uttam Lifetime Achievement International Award of ₹50,000 in memory of late Shri A. J. Uttam.
